Yoga for Stress & Resilience: a four-week in-person course with Bryony Hughes

This 4 week course is for anyone who wants to understand how yoga can improve their resilience to stress. It is an opportunity to experience yoga therapy at an affordable price.

We tend to view stress as negative, but a certain level of stress is normal and necessary to
meet the demands of life. It is what gives us our drive, motivation and passion to work
towards whatever gives our life meaning and purpose.

However, our bodies are designed to respond to acute stress that posed a threat to our survival. In modern society, the nature of our stress has changed, and most people experience high levels of sustained stress. It is this chronic stress state that can contribute to poor health and wellbeing.

In this course, you will learn practices to help you regulate your own stress response as well as practices to promote a greater resilience to the unavoidable stress in your life. Practices will include breath work (pranayama), movement (asana), sound (mantra), relaxation and meditation. You will develop a greater understanding of how the different practices affect your body (the physiological basis for the practices) as well as exploring how yoga philosophy supports us in the challenges of modern living.

Before you begin the course, you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and to have a 30 minute individual consultation (by phone or Zoom) with Bryony. This allows her to better understand your health needs and to make sure you get the most out of the 4 week course.

All levels of yoga experience are welcome.
