Yoga Clinic with Clare Proudfoot and Kevin Powell

Yoga clinic: a workshop for yoga and movement teachers exploring the fundamentals of key yoga postures through a physiotherapy lens, to better understand support injuries and restrictions.

Everyone arrives on the mat from a different place; whether it’s from an injury history or patterns of holding perspective. Join Physiotherapist Kevin and Yoga teacher Clare for an interactive exploration of how injuries and restrictions might limit a yoga practice and how to work with these, rather than around them.

Is this workshop for you?

·       Do you have your own injury history that you’d like to home in on and work with on a deeper level?

·       Are you keen to support your students to expand their practice in a way that works with their body, rather than against it?

·       Does the idea of a non-judgmental troubleshooting space with fellow yoga teachers and a physiotherapist to share knowledge, brainstorm ideas and learn from one another sounds interesting to you?

What you can expect to take away from the workshop

·       An understanding of the boney reference points on the pelvis and how these dictate what your spine is able / unable to do

·       An understanding of the pelvic femoral and pelvic lumber connection

·       How injuries and restrictions might limit the full expression of child's pose, dandasana and cat / cow

Bring your own injury history and or common restrictions you might have noticed while teaching and yoga mechanics questions!

The workshop is open to yoga and movement teachers including PT's, Pilates teachers and anyone else working from a body-centered place.

The session will end with a dose of supported rest led by Clare to let all the learning land and ground before leaving the space.
