Yoga Therapy for the Mind 8-Week Course

with Zael Ligertwood

About the course

An evidence-based course for the treatment of anxiety and mild depression created by Heather Mason (The Minded Institute), rooted in neuroscience, medicine and her experience of yoga and mindfulness. The regulation and mindfulness practices taught invite a new way of experiencing your body, breath and mind in a safe and nurturing space, reconnecting you with you  — beneath the rumination, apprehension, pain, and suffering. You are welcome exactly as you are and together we’ll create a little more space to settle into your skin.

This course is for you if you’re experiencing:

  • anxiety, depression and/or low mood

  • stress, burnout, or emotional overwhelm

  • difficulties with self-regulation or sleep

  • social isolation alongside mental health challenges

Maybe you can’t find the words to describe where you’re at, or you talk yourself in circles, over-analysing and unpicking; maybe you’re experienced at pushing down, pressing on, disconnecting from your needs or prioritising others’ before your own.

Yoga Therapy’s mind-body holistic approach invites us to pause and sit with the present moment, to sense into other aspects of awareness, connect to our truest self and offer respite from our often stubborn and unruly minds. You don’t need to be flexible, “good at yoga”, or experienced at breathwork. Just show up simply as you are.

About Zael

Zael fell in love with moving at a slower, gentler pace when training as a yoga teacher in 2019 alongside teaching English in schools. Her yoga therapy training with The Minded Institute in 2023 reaffirmed the value of carving space for safe, playful somatic exploration and giving permission for dysregulated, overwhelmed bodies to rest. Her classes use invitational language, offer options and modifications, invite curiosity through psychoeducation, and create a space to slow down and tune inwards — always trauma-informed and rooted in ahimsa (non-harm).

Her specialised training in Chair Yoga Therapy, Yoga Therapy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and Yoga Therapy for Perinatal Mental and Physical Health fill her with an even deeper awe at the magic of yoga and the many ways it supports all our layers. She is a Supervisor for the Minded Institute’s Yoga Therapy Training.

9th April - 28th May, Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30pm
