Join Anna Taylor for an evening of gentle yoga, meditation and deep relaxation exploring how cultivating compassion can support us in finding calm through kindness.
In the words of Paul Gilbert in his book Mindful Compassion, ‘our brains are set up to be calmed down in the face of kindness’. We often sense this for ourselves when we are on the receiving end of care from others. In feeling ‘held’ and cared for our nervous system calms and the world feels a little easier to navigate.
In addition to receiving care and kindness from others, we can learn to bring these qualities to ourselves (self-compassion) and our yoga practice offers a perfect setting to practice this.
In this workshop we will explore how we can weave self-compassion within our yoga practice, meeting ourselves with a sense of caring connection through movement and stillness. The practice will explore ways of self-soothing through the way we ‘meet’ ourselves on the mat, the quality of our breath, incorporating caring self-touch and allowing ourselves space to deeply rest.
Participants will have the opportunity to purchase Anna’s book Weaving Mindfulness and Compassion into Yoga Teaching which explores this topic in more depth.
The session is open to all levels and beginners are most welcome.
