Restoring Calm – An Online Yoga for Menopause Workshop with Paula Hines

“Menopause is just as important a part of the heroine’s journey as menstruation and pregnancy…. Menopause is that rite of passage that marks the beginning of the second half of a woman’s life.” – Judith Hanson Lasater

Menopause signals the transition into the Vata phase of life, when we move into a place fullness and deeper knowledge. We each experience the three Ayurvedic doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) to varying degrees and menopause can bring about imbalances in all three. However, whatever our predominant dosha is, as we move through the menopausal years and beyond we all become more Vata.  Though *menopause (*when you have not menstruated for 12 consecutive months) on average occurs in our early fifties, everyone’s experience is unique. Perimenopause – the stage when menopause symptoms often appear – usually begins several years before this, in our forties but can begin in our thirties or even earlier. Some of the symptoms associated with excess Vata include anxiety, excess worry, feelings of overwhelm, brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, panic attacks, dry skin, loss of libido and lack of focus. Incorporating pranayama, active asana, and restorative yoga, the intention of this workshop is to encourage harmony and stability, restore calm and support ourselves by nurturing Vata.
