This course for people working in the arts is designed to foster creativity through a combination of vinyasa yoga, introspective practices and engagement with a range of human senses.
Over three weeks framing the Spring Equinox, we will explore ideas and practices connected to creativity, drawn from yoga asana, philosophy and neuroscience. Each session will include vinyasa, guided meditation and time for creative expression and discussion.
We will begin by engaging the complementary energies of prana and apana to mirror dynamics of creative inspiration and output. Our second session will introduce interoception – the sense of what is happening inside the body – and use it as a means to access our aesthetic sense. During our final session we will explore pratyahara, one of the eight limbs of yoga, in which we quiet the five familiar bodily senses to fuel the imagination.
